1. India e-Arrival Card (Su-Swagatam) – NEW from April 2026
From 1 April 2026, all foreign nationals arriving by air must complete the India e-Arrival Card:
- Free of charge
- Complete within 72 hours before arrival
- Portal: indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival
- OCI cardholders required since October 4, 2025

2. Passport Requirements
- Valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival
- At least 2 blank pages for entry stamps
- Not damaged or reported lost/stolen
3. Visa Requirements
- Indian Tourist eVisa: Apply online at indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa. 30 days or 1 year. Typically approved within 72 hours to 4 business days.
- Regular (paper) visa: Via Indian embassy/consulate. Processing: 5-15 business days.
- OCI Card: Visa-free entry for persons of Indian origin. Still requires e-Arrival Card.
4. Health Requirements 2026
- Yellow fever vaccine certificate: Required if arriving from a yellow fever risk country
- Polio vaccine: Required if arriving from a polio-affected country
- COVID-19 documentation: No longer required for entry
5. Customs Regulations
- Declare cash over USD 5,000 (notes) or USD 10,000 (notes and travellers cheques combined)
- Indian rupees import limit: INR 25,000 for visitors
- Strict rules on prohibited and dutiable goods
6. Restricted and Protected Area Permits
Special permits are required for certain regions: parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Lakshadweep. Apply 3 months before arrival.
