India e-Arrival Card for EU Citizens 2026

All European Union citizens travelling to India must complete the India e-Arrival Card before flying, as part of India’s mandatory Su-Swagatam digital arrival registration effective from 1 April 2026.

Do EU Citizens Need the India e-Arrival Card?

Yes. Citizens of all 27 EU member states must complete the India e-Arrival Card before arrival in India by air. The registration is free and instant.

EU Countries Required to Apply

All EU member states are required, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Finland, and all others. Non-EU Schengen area countries (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) are also required.

EU Citizens and Indian Visa Requirements

Most EU citizens are eligible for the Indian eVisa. Options include:

  • Indian Tourist eVisa: 30 days or 1 year (multiple entry)
  • Business eVisa
  • The e-Arrival Card is a separate, free requirement in addition to the visa

Note: Citizens of some nationalities may need to apply at an Indian embassy. Check your specific requirements.

How to Apply – EU Passport Holders

  1. Visit indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival within 72 hours of arrival
  2. Select your EU nationality from the dropdown
  3. Enter EU passport details (format varies by country)
  4. Complete all fields: purpose, arrival date, Indian address, contact info
  5. Submit and save confirmation

Important Notes for EU Travellers

  • Each traveller needs their own individual e-Arrival Card – couples and families cannot share one form
  • The portal is in English; all EU nationalities can be selected in the form
  • Schengen freedom of movement does not affect India’s entry requirements
